Application

You can use Primo (online catalogue), most of the databases and the reading rooms for research purposes without any particular formalities. For  home lending a library card is needed.

Order and Loan Procedure

In the Regional State Library items that are available can be ordered through Primo and collected within two hours. For this purpose you need a  library card. 

Registration

You have to be a resident of the Federal Republic of Germany. To obtain a library card you will require a valid identification card or a valid passport together with confirmation of registration as resident by the local authority, a so-called "Meldebescheinigung".

If you are under age, your parent or legal guardian will need to sign an application form.

The library is free of charge (except damage, loss or commissions for photos, microfilm copies, digital and photocopies).

For users from abroad (wishing to use the collections of the Staatliche Bibliothek Regensburg):

Please let us know the required literature at least one week in advance. Upon arrival on showing your ID card or passport you will receive a guest reader card and the requested items (generally the requested items can be only used in our reading room).

Reproduction Service

Photocopies, digital scans (black/white or colour), also enlargements of microforms are made on request. Please use our imaging services order form (PDF, 1 Seite).
